Gardening Success
September 9, 2009 at 10:36 pm | In A's Posts, Gardening, Photos | 2 CommentsBack in June, I planted some sunflower seeds. Only one plant survived and it has finally bloomed! It was a lot of fun to go outside every morning to see how the bud had changed. These are some pictures of the different stages of the flower opening.

Studying with friends
This past week Kayla has been at a college orientation at Verity Institute. She’ll return September 19th to finish the year at home. As part of the orientation, she’s on a mini Journey to the Heart this week. We would definitely appreciate your prayers for her safety and growth.

Lovely Little Box: A Tutorial

Now isn’t that cute? Whether you are giving a gift or looking for a way to store your earring collection, I have an idea for you! Make this adorable paper box… it won’t take you more than ten minutes.
First, start out with two pieces of coordinating cardstock, one measuring 7″ x 3″ (on right in photo below), and one 4 1/2″ square (on left).

Score the 7″ x 3″ rectangle three inches from each side lengthwise, then fold. (As pictured below)

Cut one inch into each edge of the square piece and score the rest of the way down. (As pictured below)

Using the adhesive of your choice (glue or scrapbooking tape works well), assemble box. Adhere square paper to bottom inside of rectangle, folding the four flaps inside.

Add finishing touches. I rounded the corners of the lid and added ribbon to close it. The possibilities are endless. Have fun!

A New-Old Treasure

While cleaning out Grandma’s attic last week, we found a box filled with old little girls’ clothing that my mother and aunt wore. Among other cute items, there was this adorable lavender, hand-smocked dress – just Charity’s size. After washing and ironing it, we put it on her for church last Sunday. We just had to take some photos.

Matthew and Mark’s Birthday

Our little brothers’ birthday was on Tuesday. It’s hard to believe they’re four already! We had a long day of celebrating. To start, we took advantage of a free movie being shown at the theater that morning. Then we bought a kiddie pool, which the little ones played in after lunch. That night, we all went to Chuck E. Cheese’s for pizza and fun. Here are a few photos…

Sad Day
June 27, 2009 at 3:57 pm | In Bible Verses, Family, K's Posts, Photos | 3 CommentsYesterday, Friday, June 26th, 2009 at 10:30 am, our dear Grandma passed away. She had been declining in health all week long, and her body finally gave out. The last few days she was unresponsive, but we still told her how much we loved her.

She will be greatly missed, especially on birthdays. She always made those extra special. She professed faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior, so we have confidence we will see her again someday.

Muffins!

I made these Raspberry Jam Muffins for my mom’s birthday last month, and everyone loved them. More like a dessert than a breakfast food.

Our mango trees went crazy this year, and we have lots of mangoes to show for it. This means lots and lots of mango bread, muffins and smoothies.
I made these Mango Muffins for Kayla’s graduation reception, and they were a hit.
