Free Chick-fil-A!

Our whole family loves Chick-fil-A, so we were very happy to hear about “Cow Appreciation Day.”  Today, if you show up dressed like a cow, you get free food!  A full costume will get you a combo, and if you wear only one cow accessory, you get a free entree.

So, this morning, we got to work cutting spots out of felt and construction paper and taping (or safety-pinning) them to our white clothes.  Most of us also wore horns or ears attached to headbands and caps.  Mom even sewed some felt onto a onesie for C.  You can see some tips for costumes here.

When we got to our mall Chick-fil-A (we don’t have any free-standing ones near us), the employees looked a bit bewildered. :) But, they got their manager from the back and he knew what was going on.  He said “Free meals for everyone!”, and the employees rang some “cow” bells.  So we ended up receiving eleven combo meals; the register rang up $100. before the cashier started inputting the discount!  Yes, we have some food left over. :D

It was fun eating lunch in the mall dressed like cows, and pretending everything was normal.  We didn’t see any bovine friends other than the ones in our group.

Here we are all decked out as cows – I’m sure you will enjoy the sight:

Humorous Happenings

Inspired by Handmaiden at Handmaidens of the Shepherd, we thought we’d compile some funny stories from our home to share with you.  We’ll publish volumes as we recall them.  Here are a few to start…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While volunteering at the hospital, an older Hispanic man approached K and said, sounding quite shocked, “¡Que blanco!” (How white!)  K had no idea what to reply to this man, so she just smiled.  “¿De donde tu eres?”  (Where are you from?)  “¡Aqui!”  (Here!)  “¿De ______?”  (From ______?)  “Sí.”  (Yes)  He then declared, and I quote, ”¡Pero (but), you don’t go to the beach!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One night, all of us girls were in bed talking for a while before falling asleep.  K and I were carrying on a conversation (or trying to) while A and C were talking, and quite loudly at that.  I was asking K to repeat herself when she suddenly exclaimed to the others, “Guys, be quiet!  We can’t hear each other think!”  There was one moment of silence before we all burst into laughter.  (She, of course, had been attempting to say, “We can’t hear ourselves think!”)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One day while on vacation, we decided to pack a lunch and take a leisurely drive through town.  After a while Mom and Dad mentioned something about starting to look for a picnic table to eat at.  About ten minutes later we were taking a detour through a cemetery when our then four-year-old brother asked, exasperated, “Where are the picnic tables?!”
