Day Eighteen ~ Colossians 3:18
March 18, 2009 at 9:00 am | In Bible Verses, Guest Bloggers, Scripture Memory Challenge | 1 Comment“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.”
Here we see Paul begin to address the household codes among a family. Wives are told to submit to their husbands and the phrase “as it is fit in the Lord” gives us instruction as disciples of the Lord. It is our proper and natural order to submit to our husband, our duty as a Christian wife. The relationship between husband and wife must embody the Lordship of Christ. It will bear witness to the new life they share in Christ.

“Let the peace of God rule in your heart”… I think this is very important in one’s life. Because when fights, arguments, and disagreements come up, what do we do? Do we want to a be a part of it? Do we try to make it worse? Do we even enjoy it? Or do we let “The Peace of God rule our hearts”? Do we try to stop it, can you let it go, does it really matter if you do see eye to eye. Though, I would like to say that when another has a wrong belief, you should speak up and show how it comes from the Bible. Also I think that if the argument really has nothing to do with you then you should stay out of it. Since we are of one body then what others think might be beneficial!
…”and be ye thankful”. Be thankful plain and simple! There are so many things that we over look. We may think we sometimes have it hard, but we should be truly thankful. We have it so well and others don’t. Just think of the simple things.

Day Fourteen ~ Colossians 3:14

Before we do anything that the Lord commands us to do, like forgive and be kind to one another, we must first love. Otherwise, everything we do is just mere hypocrisy. If our souls are imbued with love, like that of Christ, it will be easy then to forbear and forgive. This verse is very important to me because it reminds me of how much God loves us that He sent His son to die for us on the cross. You see, God did this because He loves us! He was willing to submit, forgive, and forbear for us undeserving people. Love is the bond of perfectness. All the Christian graces are bound together in love. It is the source of them all, and if we strive to be more like our Father, we must above all put on love.

When we make the choice to follow Jesus we become a part of God’s elect. As such we are to put on “Bowels of mercies…” When reading that my reaction was, “WHAT?” When you look up the meaning of “bowels” you find that not only does it mean what’s on the inside, but that the archaic definition of bowels is “feelings of pity or compassion.” So to translate this would be “Heartfelt mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering (patience;)”
This scripture reminds me of Matthew 25:35-40
35 “I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison and ye came unto me…” 40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Day Nine ~ Colossians 3:9

I would like to point out two things from this verse:
1) “Lie not to one another.” Lying can hurt others physically and emotionally. Sometimes when you don’t even mean for it to happen. You may just tell a small lie that you think will not do anything. But it will get out-of-hand. You will need to tell more lies to cover that one up then to cover that one up, until it is out-of-hand. It is always better just to tell the truth FIRST!
2) When I think of this I see a heart that has just been made clean putting on old sinful habits. But now filling them up again with Christ-likeness. Phil. 4:8 is a good verse when think of “new” things.

All of us who profess Christ as Savior and who are alive in Him once walked in disobedience (sin) – see Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
I like how this verse puts our sinful, disobedient life in past tense. It gives me hope that I can overcome any particular sin that I may struggle with and have that part of me be “dead.”

Day Four ~ Colossians 3:4
March 4, 2009 at 8:48 am | In Guest Bloggers, Scripture Memory Challenge | 1 Comment“When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.”

There is a future moment, when prophesy will come to pass, when at the first resurrection (Rev. 20:5,6), at the last trump, in the twinkling of an eye (1 Cor. 15:52), those who are the firstfruits to God (1 Cor. 15:20-23; Ja.1:18; Rv. 14:4), will arise from the dust of the earth (Dan.12:2; Is. 26:19), where they have been waiting as if asleep(1 Cor.15:51; 1 Ths.4:14; 5:10). They will then meet their Lord and Savior in the air (1 Ths. 4:17), and be instantly transformed when they see him (1 Jn. 3:2) into his image. They then, with him, will appear in his glory to all the earth, especially to those who pierced him (Zech.12:10, Rev.1:7). Those who see him coming with us, the ten thousands of his saints (Jude 1:14), will finally and fully know, at that time, the depth of their sins, repent, and come to know Yeshua as their Messiah. Then we will judge the nations and set up the Millennial Kingdom of Messiah on the earth, to rule and reign with him a thousand years (Rev. 20:4,6).
What an amazing time this will be! We will finally not only be able to see our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, but we will get to help him establish his ten thousand year reign. I don’t know about you, but to me it is awe-inspiring. Think of what will be happening! We will actually get to see Yeshua face to face, live in his Millennial Kingdom where there “…shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Rev. 21:4) Instead of these things, we will be able to focus on the Lord.
While thinking about this verse makes my heart leap with joy, it also sobers me. If I am to meet with Yeshua face to face, I’d better have my act straight! Am I following his Word because the rest of my family is doing it and it is just part of the norm in our household, or am I doing it truly to grow in my relationship with Christ and try to please him?
I think there was a time in my life where I was doing the former. While I did understand what it meant to be saved and obey God, I wasn’t reading the Bible and praying for the right reasons. I was doing it purely because I had been raised on it. Praise the Lord that I am now seeking to fulfill his will in my life! Reading and meditating on the Word, praying and seeking other believer’s insight (like my parents) has helped me tremendously in growing in my walk with the Lord.
What about you? Will you be ready when Yeshua comes to gather up his people?
