Our little brothers’ birthday was on Tuesday. It’s hard to believe they’re four already! We had a long day of celebrating. To start, we took advantage of a free movie being shown at the theater that morning. Then we bought a kiddie pool, which the little ones played in after lunch. That night, we all went to Chuck E. Cheese’s for pizza and fun. Here are a few photos…

We’re back!
June 16, 2009 at 12:13 pm | In Events, Family, K's Posts, Photos | 1 CommentPraise the Lord, our dad was able to fix our computer! We’re excited to get back to blogging with pictures.
To catch you all up to date, we thought we’d start with a few pictures from our trip to Nashville last month.

It was a great trip! Lord willing, this week we’ll be working on some other posts including one with pictures from my graduation on Saturday. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Nashville 2009 Recap & Prayer
June 4, 2009 at 10:38 pm | In Events, Family, K's Posts, Photos | 3 CommentsEdit: I’m sorry the link to the photos from our trip is not working either. Maybe when our computers are back to good health we’ll be able to share some of them here.
One of the reasons we’ve been so quiet lately is that we were out of town. From May 23rd to the 31st, we were in Nashville, Tennessee for the annual regional ATI conference. We greatly look forward to this conference every year as it is a wonderful time of spiritual refreshing and encouragement (not to mention all the great old friends we get to see and great new ones we get to meet!). Our computers have been giving us trouble as well and our grandmother is still ill, so blogging has unfortunately taken the back burner in our lives as of late. However, we would like to share some photos from our trip with y’all. Due to the aforementioned computer problems, I won’t be able to post photos here. Y’all will have to go to this link to view them.
Some of the highlights of our trip were swimming at the resort we stayed at, seeing Journey friends and teammates, meeting the Duggar family, and playing games with friends after conference sessions. I (Kayla) was blessed to be a COMMIT team leader this year for the first time. It was a wonderful experience and I think I learned just as much as (if not more than) the girls on my team did!
Please continue to be in prayer for our grandmother. She is currently in a rehabilitation facility, but is not doing as well as we would like for her to be. She has lost a considerable amount of weight and strength. She also has a fever due to an infection somewhere in her body. The most important thing for her to do right now is eat, but it’s just not happening. We continue to take comfort in trusting the Lord for the outcome of this trial.
Fun evening

What a wonderful time we had at the Wissmann family concert last night! Such sweet praise and fellowship.

Desiree (left), the one who first introduced us to the Wissmanns’ music! Many thanks

The little ones enjoyed playing together

Rachel and I are both the oldest in our families, and both born on January 31st!

Sadly, this is a little blurry, but at least it captures the moment.
We so enjoyed meeting and visiting with the Wissmanns and hearing more of their wonderful music.

Scripture Memory Challenge
February 20, 2009 at 9:18 pm | In Bible Verses, Events, K's Posts | 6 CommentsDuring the month of January, Stephanie and I pariticipated in a Scripture memory challenge over at LivingtheJourney.com, a blog for Journey to the Heart alumni. The challenge was to memorize the 26 verses of II Timothy 2 in 26 days. A challenge it was, but by God’s grace, we completed it! The experience was such a blessing and encouragement that we desired to host a similar event right here.
Starting on March 1st, we will work on memorizing one verse of Colossians 3 (KJV) each day with the goal of being able to quote the whole chapter from memory on March 25th. Each day, we will have a short commentary of sorts from one of us or a guest blogger sharing insights God has revealed and practical ways we can apply the verse to our lives.
Scripture memory and meditation should hold large importance in our hearts as children of God. The blessings for those who delight in God’s Word are unfathomable.
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Psam 1:1-3)
So, I hope you will join us on March 1st! My goal in letting you all know ahead of time is that you will spread the word and let others know about it so we can have maximum encouragement and glory to the Lord! Check back tomorrow and we’ll have some buttons ready that you can post on your blog.
My Birthday
February 6, 2009 at 1:40 pm | In Baby C, Events, Family, Photos, S's Posts | 2 CommentsThanks everyone for the birthday wishes!
I had a wonderful birthday! Here are some photos from the day…

My tulips that Mom bought me.

We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast…

then headed out to eat lunch. We were going to go to Denny’s and get those free Grand Slams, but the line was so long we opted to eat at Arby’s instead.

Allison, me and Mom.

When we got home we tried out our new volleyball net for the first time. Here are Allison and Picasso working on getting it up.

All set up! That’s Peanut on the right.

Cherry and me

And to finish it off, we ate cake that night and opened presents.
Happy Birthday Kayla!

Today is Kayla’s 18th birthday! Our plans for the day include chocolate chip waffles for breakfast, two soccer games (Ladybug’s and Picasso’s), lunch out, and a gathering with some friends also in ATI.
Happy birthday, Kayla! We’re so glad to have you as a sister! You fill the firstborn role beautifully.
Your love for the Lord and your shining as a light for Him encourages us and others.
May the Lord bless you as you serve Him, and strengthen and guide you through the next year! We love you!
Our Vacation
December 28, 2008 at 7:06 pm | In Events, Family, Photos, S's Posts | 2 CommentsWe got back from our trip to Orlando on the 20th. We had a really nice time! We went as a group with other large families to the Holy Land Experience, which is a sort of theme park in Orlando. It’s set up with different scenes from Israel. We loved all the performances, which included shows about Christ’s birth, His crucifixion/resurrection, and Hanukkah.
Here’s a slideshow of our time there (2 days out of the 7 in Orlando):

During the rest of the week, we did various things. We spent time with the other families talking and playing card games and basketball. We got to see our aunt and her family who live in Orlando. We visited our uncle (who is a judge) at the jail where he works. We also played mini-golf, ate at T-Rex (a neat restaurant), and visited the Wycliffe museum of Bible translation.
