A New-Old Treasure

While cleaning out Grandma’s attic last week, we found a box filled with old little girls’ clothing that my mother and aunt wore. Among other cute items, there was this adorable lavender, hand-smocked dress – just Charity’s size. After washing and ironing it, we put it on her for church last Sunday. We just had to take some photos.

In Our Backyard
May 10, 2009 at 1:41 pm | In Baby C, Family, Photos, S's Posts | 4 CommentsWe’ve been spending a lot of time outside as of late. Some of our favorite things to do are taking our schoolwork out there, playing with the little ones on the swingset, and reading. We also love taking photos.

My Birthday
February 6, 2009 at 1:40 pm | In Baby C, Events, Family, Photos, S's Posts | 2 CommentsThanks everyone for the birthday wishes!
I had a wonderful birthday! Here are some photos from the day…

My tulips that Mom bought me.

We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast…

then headed out to eat lunch. We were going to go to Denny’s and get those free Grand Slams, but the line was so long we opted to eat at Arby’s instead.

Allison, me and Mom.

When we got home we tried out our new volleyball net for the first time. Here are Allison and Picasso working on getting it up.

All set up! That’s Peanut on the right.

Cherry and me

And to finish it off, we ate cake that night and opened presents.

A Day at the Beach
August 11, 2008 at 3:11 pm | In Baby C, Events, Family, K's Posts, Photos | 3 CommentsLast Friday, we went to the beach for the first time this summer. Even though we live about 20 minutes away from the ocean, we hardly ever visit it. I guess we take it for granted, but it’s nice to know it’s close by.
So, last week we decided to go… We went with some friends and had a blast! The water was great and we rented an umbrella and chairs. We are so pale that it would have been brutal without it and the usual sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.
The boys enjoyed getting dirty, of course.
Baby C enjoyed playing in the ocean for the first time ever.
It was a relaxing summer day.
“And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:10)
Free Chick-fil-A!
July 11, 2008 at 5:10 pm | In Baby C, Events, Family, Frugality, Humour, Photos, S's Posts | 6 CommentsOur whole family loves Chick-fil-A, so we were very happy to hear about “Cow Appreciation Day.” Today, if you show up dressed like a cow, you get free food! A full costume will get you a combo, and if you wear only one cow accessory, you get a free entree.
So, this morning, we got to work cutting spots out of felt and construction paper and taping (or safety-pinning) them to our white clothes. Most of us also wore horns or ears attached to headbands and caps. Mom even sewed some felt onto a onesie for C. You can see some tips for costumes here.
When we got to our mall Chick-fil-A (we don’t have any free-standing ones near us), the employees looked a bit bewildered.
But, they got their manager from the back and he knew what was going on. He said “Free meals for everyone!”, and the employees rang some “cow” bells. So we ended up receiving eleven combo meals; the register rang up $100. before the cashier started inputting the discount! Yes, we have some food left over.
It was fun eating lunch in the mall dressed like cows, and pretending everything was normal. We didn’t see any bovine friends other than the ones in our group.
Here we are all decked out as cows – I’m sure you will enjoy the sight:
