A Couple of Awards

We recently received two awards from Serenity and bookworm4god.  Thank you both!  Though we won’t be passing them along this time, we appreciate the encouragement!  We love you! :)

“THE LEMONADE AWARD: The concept behind this award is that the blog creators have shown an uncanny knack for silver linings and making the best of bad situations (i.e., lemonade from lemons).”

Here is the wording for this special award: To translate the gift from Portuguese to English, it means:

“This blog invests and believes, the proximity” (meaning, that blogging makes us ‘close’ -being close through proxy)

“They all are charmed with the blogs, where in the majority of its aims are to show the marvels and to do friendship; there are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize, and then they help to cut these bows; do we want that they are cut, or that they propagate? Then let’s try to give more attention to them! So with this prize we must deliver it to bloggers that in turn must make the same thing and put this text.”

Our Vacation

We got back from our trip to Orlando on the 20th. We had a really nice time!  We went as a group with other large families to the Holy Land Experience, which is a sort of theme park in Orlando.  It’s set up with different scenes from Israel.  We loved all the performances, which included shows about Christ’s birth, His crucifixion/resurrection, and Hanukkah.

Here’s a slideshow of our time there (2 days out of the 7 in Orlando):

During the rest of the week, we did various things.  We spent time with the other families talking and playing card games and basketball.  We got to see our aunt and her family who live in Orlando.  We visited our uncle (who is a judge) at the jail where he works.  We also played mini-golf, ate at T-Rex (a neat restaurant), and visited the Wycliffe museum of Bible translation.

Hey everyone!  We’ve been out of town for a week and hope to get back to blogging in the near future.  I hope you all have a merry Christmas!

Feminine Friday – Mending Modesty skirts

At the ATI conference we went to in Nashville this summer, we met Kayla, a 16-year-old girl who has her own business sewing and selling skirts called Mending Modesty.   I was so excited to see a place where I could buy long, modest skirts as they are so hard to find in the stores these days!  I recently ordered two of them, and am very pleased.  Kayla is such a talented seamstress!  The skirts are lovely and make me feel so feminine.  Now I’m passing on the word… :)

Thank you, Kayla, for mending modesty!

A Quick Update

December 4, 2008 at 1:24 pm | In S's Posts | 3 Comments

We apologize for being so quiet lately!  We’ve been quite busy with life.  :)   Let’s see what’s been going on lately…

- We had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I hope you all did too. :)   We’ll put up some photos from the day later on.  We also have a ton of photos from other events which we’ll post soon.  A trip to the zoo, a picnic, etc.

- Our internet is down right now, so all the pictures that I mentioned above will probably have to wait ’til Monday.  Hopefully, we will still be able to do a Feminine Friday post tomorrow, but if not, watch for it next week. :)

- Kayla’s been studying for the SAT, which she’ll take on Saturday.  She’s really nervous, so she would really appreciate your prayers!

That’s all for now, folks. :) I hope we won’t have to leave you hanging like that again…
