Renewed Hope
April 27, 2008 at 9:07 pm | In Gardening, Photos, S's Posts | 3 CommentsOur first attempt at gardening didn’t turn out very well. We tried a few more times, and they failed as well. But this batch we planted last month is doing great! We’re very excited; we were beginning to fear that we all have black thumbs (as opposed to green ones
).
Our soil here isn’t very good, so we decided to plant in pots and just leave them outdoors. The first photo is of some herbs, and the second is of sunflowers.

What American accent do you have?
April 19, 2008 at 2:15 pm | In K's Posts | 4 CommentsOur mom found a really interesting quiz yesterday. Go here to take it and let us know which American accent you have!
Here’s mine…
Your Result: The Midland
“You have a Midland accent” is just another way of saying “you don’t have an accent.” You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
Show & Tell Friday: Tea Sets
April 18, 2008 at 7:25 pm | In Photos, S's Posts | 8 CommentsWelcome to another Show & Tell! Today I’ll be showing you our collection of tea sets. We received most of them from our grandmother, who also collects them. Here they are in their home on the shelf in our bedroom:
We received the green and blue ones as favors from a tea party. The other two are from our grandma.
All three of these sets belong to A. They’re too tiny to drink out of, but they’re cute. :) I saw our sister C using them the other day to practice her tea pouring skills.
Thanks for visiting our show & tell!
Tea Time
April 16, 2008 at 10:21 pm | In K's Posts, Photos | 3 CommentsOur family loves tea. Whether it’s good old sweet tea or hot green tea, we enjoy it. We girls try to have a tea party of sorts once a week or so in order to slow down and catch up with each other. ☺
A few months ago, I heard about an offer from Celestial Seasonings tea on MoneySavingMom.com. If you signed up for Celestial Seasoning’s Book Club, they would send you free tea samples, bookmarks, and recipes. I thought I’d give it a try, but then completely forgot about it. Well, a week ago, we got this in the mail:
It was pretty exciting to get something other than junk mail and bills! We tasted the teas and they are all delicious. I was going to give you all a link so that you can sign up to get these samples, but it turns out they aren’t offering it anymore.
By the way, MoneySavingMom is a great place to find free samples. Crystal usually posts whatever ones she hears about each day. Today we received a sample of popcorn from Wabash Valley Farms. It didn’t last long, of course! ☺
Reading books by Peter Walsh would make you go crazy too.
April 9, 2008 at 4:09 pm | In Home Organization, K's Posts, Photos | 3 CommentsOkay, so I’m an organizer at heart. That’s why I was interested in reading It’s All Too Much. I had no idea how inspiring and motivating it would be! Yesterday, while my mom and I were running on this energy, we decided on a whim to clean out the laundry room. And ta-da! This is what resulted…
Don’t ya just love how everything’s all clean and sparkly?
Now, unfortunately, we forgot to take “before” pictures. I know you’re dying to see what it used to looked like. ☺ Just picture it…um…well…worse. There used to be lots of clutter on the dryer and pretty much everywhere. We threw away about five bags of trash and saved a bag of stuff for a friend’s garage sale.
Call me crazy, but this is what I call fun! ☺
Shrewsbury Lasses
April 7, 2008 at 2:31 pm | In Family, Movies, S's Posts | 9 CommentsWe have a new favorite dance: The Shrewsbury Lasses! We’re in the process of watching Pride and Prejudice (A&E version) and we discovered it there. It’s the dance that Elizabeth and Mr. Collins are in. “Other way, Mr. Collins!” ☺ We were wondering what we looked like doing it, so we took a video. ☺ The “gentlemen” line is on the right, with the ladies on the left.

Here is the clip that we watched over and over again to learn it. It was difficult because the camera always moves to Mr. Darcy. But we found these intstructions, so we put two and two together, and it fit. ☺ After a lot of practice, that is. (The actual dance is from 3:55 to 5:40)
Celebrating
April 5, 2008 at 9:55 pm | In Family, Photos, Recipes, S's Posts | 2 CommentsToday my parents celebrated their twenty-second anniversary. We had a special breakfast of Chocolate French Toast in honor of the occasion. The recipe is from Handmaidens of the Shepherd (Thanks!). Mom and Dad also went out to eat tonight by themselves. Anyway, we were able to catch a couple photos of the french toast (before it was all gone), so here they are:
