Recently our family has been learning how to be more frugally minded.  We completed Crystal Paine’s Supermarket Savings 101 online course and were introduced to the world of bargain shopping!  It has become quite a hobby for us.  We started taking advantage of the super deals at CVS and Walgreens each week.  We’ve also been clipping coupons and matching them with sales.  Here is a picture of what we bought at CVS today for $0.43 out of pocket.  We also got paid back $18.00 in Extra Care Bucks (the CVS card rewards which you can use like money on your next purchase).

We have really enjoyed shopping frugally.  It allows us to give more to others in need and is great practice for our future lives.  Even if we can’t use an item that is available for free or pennies, we will get it anyway and give it away to someone we know can use it.  I would strongly encourage you to check out the Supermarket Savings class.  Even if you are already a seasoned bargain shopper, I promise that it will be an encouragement to you.

I recently read a wonderful book called Before You Meet Prince Charming: A Guide to Radiant Purity by Sarah Mally.  Sarah started a girls’ discipleship program several years ago called Bright Lights.  She also co-wrote a book on sibling relationships with her brother and sister.  Before You Meet Prince Charming is a delightful book about how to serve the Lord during your youth and focus on growing in your walk with Him.  Part of the book is a fictional fairy tale about a young princess who struggles to wait on the Lord and reject the teachings of the world.  The rest of the book contains Sarah’s warm, light-hearted, wise, challenging, and practical advice.  This book is geared towards Christian ladies ages 12 to 90.  It is also a great study tool for girls’ discipleship groups as it icludes suggested memory verses and small projects.  I learned so much from reading this book and was greatly encouraged in my walk with the Lord.  At times, I was unable to put it down!
